Dead Alive

For our first entry, we decided to review the classic zombie movie, "Dead Alive."
The film was released in 1992, and directed by Peter "Lord of the Rings" Jackson.

We both agreed the movie took a while to get to the zombie action, however it was well worth the wait. We decided to give the film two thumbs up for gore, since it may well be the goriest zombie film we have ever seen to date. "Dead Alive" has a very "Sam Raimi feel" and is extremely reminiscent of the "Evil Dead" trilogy. The zombie makeup was very well done, and there were a lot of zombies which was a definite plus!

Some of our favourite scenes were the graveyard fight scene where the awesome kung-fu priest "kicks ass for the lord" before being impaled on a gravestone and when Lionel brutally massacres a horde of zombies with a lawnmower! So much blood!

Melissa's rating: 8/10 "Add it to your zombie collection!"

James' rating: 8/10 "A must see for any zombie lover!"

  2. Good luck - not a whole lotta places rent this movie. Even better finding the extended version; most places should carry the "unrated" version but they're all "unrated." The extended version includes an extra scene where the nurse and Father zombie have sex impaled on a rake. I saw it once. On late night television. In the UK. Extra trivia: Dead Alive was once in the guinness record books for the most fake blood ever used in a movie!
